HOW IT STARTED
Mal’s Pals Foundation was founded in 2017. After a little Boston girl was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called, Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome, or RTS. Her parents and their friends decided to enter in a bike race to raise awareness for rare diseases like Mallory’s. The rest is history.
Since 2017, Mal’s Pals Foundation has grown from a team of 5 riders in the Best Buddies Challenge, to a support network involving hundreds of people, local businesses, partners and supporters.
Mal’s Pals Foundation strives to not only raise awareness about rare disease, but to encourage inclusion. Mal’s Pals Foundation believes, that it is in a most inclusive world, that we all become better people. It is not only beneficial to those with unique abilities, but it is of priceless value for anyone to learn and grow in an environment that is both inclusive and accomodating of all people.
HOW IT'S GOING...
Best Buddies Challenge
We have, to date, donated over $175,000 to Best Buddies International. Best Buddies is a non profit with a similar mission to MPF. Together #TeamMallory rides 100 miles from Boston, MA to Hyannisport to raise awareness for people of all abilities in support of our common goal: an inclusive world.
Join us for our next Best Buddies Challenge this coming June 2022! We want you on Team Mallory!
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT
Increasing Accessibility
We have been able to directly support families struggling through complex care needs, fatal diagnoses, and financial inequities. Since 2017, Mal’s Pals Foundation has used at least $25,000 of funds raised for Direct to Family Support. We plan to continue with our annual Rifton Adaptive Bicycle Giveaway like we did this year for Miles, as well as donate much needed medical supplies/equipment, assistive communication devices and more. Visit our Support & Giveaway Application page to see more about what we do!
Education & Awareness
Mal’s Pals Foundation has made it a goal to educate those both near and far about rare diseases and inclusion. We provide resources in all forms – social, emotional, educational and medical. Through social media platforms and our networking efforts, we have helped connect people with rare disease, supported their family members, and educated the public on inclusion and acceptance. This year we did a craft project with children from local schools and community centers to help the future generations understand rare disease. Be sure to check out our photo gallery for more pictures of our Rare Disease Day crafts. To find out more about Rare Disease Day near you, click here.
RTS & RARE DISEASE RESOURCES
If you’re visiting our page for more information on RTS or other Rare Diseases, please contact us! We want to hear from you and your family. Mal’s Pals Foundation is a team of volunteers who are passionate about spreading awareness for Rare Diseases and while we’ve done our fair share of research and have our own experiences with Miss Mallory, WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS. All testimonials and information provided on this website is from personal experience unless otherwise explained. We strongly urge those with questions to always consult your personal family provider. To help with some broad questions on Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome, we have attached an updated 2020 version of the RTS guide here.
